Welcome to the Jungle!

 

A great DIY destination. It’s not really a Botanical Garden in the traditional sense of the term, but a unique opportunity to experience immersion in the lush jungle that covers the limestone mountains making up the park.

The area is a 40 hectare managed sector of the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park boasting over 500 plant species within the ecosystem. Located a few Kilometers inside the park along Highway 20 and Approximately 12 kilometers from Phong Nha Village, or 20km from Phog Nha Farmstay, it’s best reached by Phong Nha Rider Motorcycle Taxi or by renting a scooter. You can get here by private car, or by bicycle, but be careful retuning down the steep road, as there have been a few bicycle accidents over the years. its been open.

Some key points of interest within the 40 hectare property are the

 

  • Parking Area and Ticket Office – park, pay admission and recieve a map.
  • Gio Waterfall – great views, swimming at the bottom and a climbing path up the side.
  • Vang Anh Pond –  a jungle clad swimming hole along the trail.
  • The Exhibition House full of taxidermy and an idea of what might had been.
  • Some animal enclosures – bit sad, but it is what it is.
  • Propogation Centre – plant nursery.
  • There are 3 exploration routes;
    • 1 – waterfall Only 40mins
    • 2 – the pond and Water fall 1.5 hrs.
    • 3 – jungle trek, includes 2 oportunities to swim. 4.4km. Could take 3 hrs.
